Hi, my name is Natasha and I am the founder of Soothe Box Company. I live on the Dorset coast with my partner James and little dog Mervin. I worked as a Mental Health Recovery Worker, up until November '18 when I became ill with Depressive Disorder. This caused me to struggle daily with panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, low mood and disassociation.
It was a really difficult time for my family, who live over 200 miles away. They wanted to support me, but as I would often not answer texts or calls, it became very hard for them to do so. My Mum found a way around this and began to send parcels to me with thoughtful gifts and letters. Receiving these parcels made me feel loved and cared for and they never failed to put a smile on my face.
Once I had made it through the acute stages of the illness, I decided to open up about my experience by writing a blog which I posted on my personal social media channels. I was overwhelmed by the messages of support. The words of encouragement made me feel connected and supported, which reminded me of the parcels my Mum had sent to me. I thought that this may be a way of reaching people, like me, who's illness had caused them to feel isolated and alone. A way for their loved ones to say 'I am here whenever you are ready, I love you and you are cared for.'
This was the inspiration for Soothe Box Company. Thoughtful gift boxes specifically tailored to people struggling with their mental health.
